The area outlined in red includes about 25 acres of undeveloped woods and wetlands awarded to Quincy for cemetery purposes by the legislature via Chapter 669 of the Acts of 1962. Prior to that the land was part of the Blue Hills Reservation. Although a portion of the land has been developed for the Pine Hill Cemetery, most of it remains in a natural state.
